How it Started

Fall 2006, shortly after we came home from adopting our son Evan, from China , our hearts began to turn toward Haiti adoption. Actually, Haiti had always been in my heart...and the timing seemed to be right. So in January 2007 we began the process once again to adopt, but this time we were praying for a baby girl. After finding the For His Glory website, we felt our child was at the the orphange they partnered with.

Asher Calerbe's birth mother had brought him to the orphanage shortly after his birth. Being a single mother, with no means of income or support, she could not care for him. During the time we were preparing our dossier, Calerbe, now 5 months old, became ill and prayer was requested by the director.  He was taken to the hospital and it was thought that he would die. This little boy became such a burden on our hearts, and as we prayed each day for his healing, we also prayed for him to find a forever family. After a month or so, we realized that he was our child.

So Brad went to Haiti in May, 2007 to meet this precious child and to submit our dossier.  Asher was released from the hospital but has been back on several occasions, as well as being on IV with frequent infections. Now we wait and we pray...waiting on the Lord and praying for his health. We are very excited to bring him home and anxious to have him evaluated to see why he has these reoccuring infections. Please pray along with us for him to come home soon!

He is such a sweet little boy and appears to have a smile ready for all. And we can't wait to bring him home and join our family!
